Description
I photographed Four Peaks, the tallest mountain in Arizona, from trail no, 58 in the superstition wilderness, a designated section of the Tonto National Forest. The area from which I constructed this image is geographicly the Superstition Wilderness, a place of so many tales about the Lost Dutchman Mine. I refuse to look for the mythical mine however that does not stop me from the stark beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

When one thinks of a desert, images of giant sand dunes surely come to mind. Not so in the Sonoran Desert. This desert is filled with plant life that has adapted to ultra-dry landscapes with unique ways to save water during the dry season. I am privileged to live in Arizona in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. A new vista is just around every corner is sometimes overwhelming. I try to capture the beauty of this amazing desert in its full grandeur for others to see this amazing world through my eyes..

I processed the raw image file shot with a Canon 60D with an 18-55mm IS lens using Photomatix Pro 5, filters from Topaz Labs including Detail 3, BW Effects, ReMask 4 and DeJPEG 4 as well as some minor tweaking in Photoshop including sCurve adjustments, brightness, saturation and the camera raw filter to produce this Black and White HDR image.
