The first time I came upon the Big Thompson River Canyon was during the summer of 1985 as my kids and I were returning home from a 2 week road trip to the west. We took the ridge road through Rocky Mountain National Park driving east. My intent was to go through Boulder, CO. taking I-70 back to Chicago. I missed a turn winding up in Estes Park instead. From there we traveled through the Big Thompson River Canyon. Set on finding it again on several other trips I was unsuccessful. Then our nephew moved to Loveland Colorado and in 2008 I rediscovered the canyon as if it were new for the second time.

Original image photographed in 2008 in the Big Thompson Canyon from a bridge leading to the summer cabins on the river�s edge. I didn�t know what to do with this image until I decided to treat it in black and white. The conversion settings mirror a platnium print with a hint of a red filter applied and a hint of sepia tone. Finally, an image I find pleasing.
