I photographed the 14,259 foot Long�s Peak from the Moraine Park overlooking Bear Lake Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. From this vantage point I reckon the mountain to be between 12 and 18 miles from the center of my lens. It was raining heavily in the distance covering the mountain and the valleys with a haze of both ground fog and clouds yet in the center left there was a glow from the sun trying to push its way through the clouds. Visually, the layering back from the foreground of Ponderosa Pine to the snow covered top of Long�s Peak presented itself almost as a Hudson River School landscape opportunity.
