While visiting Chimney Rock in Western Nebraska a Park Ranger suggested that I go to the cemetary on what she called the backside of Chimney Rock. I did as told; while I could still see Chimney Rock, the scenery in this early spring landscape was simply beautiful. I photographed this lone and still leafless tree with the background of this sandstone bluff and the stark blue sky with the single cloud shrouded by the tree. The history of the Oregon, Morman and Californis Trail begins to ring true at places like Chimney Rock near the North Platte River in Nebraska. From this point, traveling west toward Laramie, Wyoming one gets the feeling they have left the mid-west; from this point on one sees Gene and Roy riding Champion and Trigger saving poor widows from con-men and thieves.
