Artist's Description

Grants Grove in Kings Canyon National Park is home to the General Grant Sequoia (40 feet across at its base.) But the grove has many other sequoias in varying stages of development from the seedling to the snag tree (the snag is a tree whose top has broken off yet the tree still grows in girth if not in height.) These two trees are snags growing wider just not taller. Some snags add a ring equal to the volume of other entire trees in the forest. Simply amazing.
