I shot this image of the Theodore Roosevelt Dam on the Salt River in central Arizona in February 2016 in the mid-afternoon. Long shadows were just beginning to be of consequence with the sun still low in the southern sky behind me and to my left. The sky was cloudless, the dam, interrupting the natural flow of the river, sitting quietly; a symbol of what some call progress. I, for one, wonder about the trade-offs made to build this eddifice and the impact they have on our future.
