Description
Sonoran Desert Dreamscape. This image was shot along the Spur Cross Trail in the wilderness of the Tonto National Forest. As I was descending from the mountain peak I kept hearing a bird calling quite close to me. I also heard what could be nothing other than a response from some distance away. Turning a corner I saw this bird, I think a wren, perched on the leafless branch of a mesquite tree. I had a 300mm lens on the camera. From about 25 yards away I pointed the lens at this magnificent bird and shot off three exposures. I then added a number of textures to the base image, applied a border and used the photoshop burn tool to pull out some features. What I settled on was this impressionistic view of the Sonoran Desert in early spring.
I processed the raw image file using Photomatix Pro 5, filters from Topaz Labs including Detail 3 and DeJPEG 4 as well as some minor tweaking in Photoshop including sCurve adjustments, brightness, saturation and the camera raw filter. Finally, textured layers were added to produce this texture blended image.
I donate 25% of the profits from the sale of this image to PROJECT ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer in order to help develop better detection, prevention and a cure for this killer of males around the world.
