Description
Otter Cove has a unique place in history. The famous French Explorer Samuel de Champlain, after damaging the hull of his ship in September 1604 AD on the "Spindle" near Otter Cliff, retreated into Otter Cove for protection from the open sea while the crew did repairs. Not only did the cove provied protection from the open sea, there was plentiful wood that was used in the repairs.
In this image one may see Cadillac Mountain and Dorr Mountain in the distance. Cadillac Mountain is the tallest peak on the Eastern Seaboard at a height of 1530 ft. Dorr Mountain’s elevation is 1270 ft.
This image was compiled from five separate hand-held exposures photographed from the causway just east of the Otter Cove Bridge on the Acadia National Park Loop Road. I merged the five exposures using Lightroom.
