I shot this image about 30 meters above the McHenry Dam on the Fox River in McHenry, Illinois. There are a number of dams on the Fox, mostly built for flood control but they also provide a haven for fishermen and boaters alike. Both above and below the dam, one may spot people fishing during the warm months from March through November.
This image was shot on a quite cold October Sunday about one hour after sunset. Using a Canon 60D with an 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 Canon EFS lens and a deep red filter (I had black and white in mind as I conceived the shot). I processed the image using Photomatix Pro 5 with a personal preset producing this black and white HDR image.
