The area farthest to the north in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan City, Indiana lies in close proximity to the Michigan City Generating Station. The station is a coal and natural gas-fired power plant located on the shore of Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana. It is operated by Northern Indiana Public Service Company. Often mistaken for a nuclear station due to its cooling towers, I was particularly taken by the ironic proximity of the power lines...

The irony of these protected dunes set right next to the polluting coal and oil burning power station is almost too much to take except that it makes for some powerful photography. Thanks again.
