One of the few buildings where access is granted in Bodie Ghost Town State Historical Park in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, this chest with the reflection in its mirror gave a rather complete sense of what living was like when Bodie was a thriving gold mining town. Rusty, crusty and falling to bits today, with wallpaper falling from the interior plank walls, linoleium pealing from the wood floor there remains the artifacts of human habitation; the chest, the reflection of the stove and table in the mirror gives one a sense of the size of the room that served many domestic purposes.
I created this image with a hand held Canon and a 21mm focal length. The wide angle opens up the room while focusing on the essentials.

Oh, the textures are palpable here. Love the simplicity of the composition and the use of lines and shapes. Nice sepia tones, too, that suit the vintage subject.
