The Brunner Family Farm is a Kane County Forest Preserve in Dundee, Illinois. Slightly under 800 acres, the acquisition of the land between Illinois 31 and the Fox River and contiguous to two other county forest preserves means that there are a bit over 1000 contiguous acres of land preserved into perpetuity.
The Forest Preserve leased a small portion of the land for five years to organic farmer Cliff McConville of Barrington Natural Farms as a demonstration farm. The 741-acre preserve has a farm on the property. McConville has dairy cows, chickens and, in the future pigs on the property. He will plant 30 acres of the land in 2016. A milking parlor is part of the plans for this demonstration farm. Once all improvements are complete the farm will be open for visitors, tours will be available as well.
