Description
The Dead Sentinel is a 4000 year old bristlecone pine located in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the Inyo National Forest. It died around 350 years ago yet it still stands tall. Because of the extremely slow rate of decay, mirrored only by its slow rate of growth, this tree may last another 4000 years before it is completely returned to nature.
