Description
The Painted Desert is one of the fosil laden badlands in the United States. It is a landscape of hidden layers of beauty; layered stripes representing mineral deposits as layer after layer of sediment was laid out at the bottom of a shallow sea.
This image is a black and white conversion of an image photographed inside the area of the park known as The Tepees where cone shaped formations are paramount in ones vision. Photographed about a half-hour before sunset, the light was rightious making shadows long and sharp while accentuating the layers of rock as they are uncovered by the natural forces of erosion.
